Race Report:

Race: CSC Cup, Master's 35+
Weather: AWESOME
Course: 1-k, five turns, bumpy roads
Result: Crushed, Captured, Freeze Dried and Stored Soul

[This is a generic report that appplies to anyone other than the 20 or so riders who made it into Lead and Chase 1 - Credit to Joe Mazza for capturing the essence of a crushed soul]

I showed up and warmed up. Got in a few decent efforts to open the lactic clearance systems. I lined up. The whistle blew and the time-space continuum tore open a worm hole in the universe due to the imbalance of angular momentum originating in Clarendon, VA. I tried to breathe but the vacuum created by the front of the field left no air for anyone behind. As a side note, it was reported that hurricane-force winds were experienced at a constant radius in every direction from Clarendon as nature tried to compensate for the vacuum.

After two laps, I realized that Ramon had lapped the field 37 times and had actually ridden directly through me a number of times thus absorbing my life-force and storing my soul for another day. I looked at my computer and realized I was traveling only slightly less than the speed of sound - as opposed to Ramon, who was traveling at the speed of light - and managed to shave my beard through each turn as my face rubbed on the pavement during each lean.

So, after 8 laps, the race officials stepped out and drop-kicked 55 of us off the course while calling us names. Later analysis of my power file showed that I did five ten-second 8000 watt intervals per lap. I am also unable to continue cycling because the generated lactic acid liquefied both femurs.

At least I didn't crash. Thanks for reading.

Oh for a veiw of what it was like inside of the time warp.
