About Me: I've tried racing short and I've tried racing long. Neither really worked for me, so now I race very long. I'm either an ultrarunner posing as a triathlete or a triathlete posing as an ultrarunner. Or perhaps I'm a web geek posing as an endurance athlete. In any case, I'm the one who feeds and walks this web site.
What I do to pay the bills: Computer geekary
Short term triathlon goals: Learn to ride a bike like the big boys.
Long term triathlon goals: Race an Ironman to my full potential.
Three favorite albums: Number one would have to be Graceland, by Paul Simon. Absolutely brilliant. The opening drum beats of Boy In The Bubble can still send shivers down my spine. After that, there isn't a clear second or third favorite. There are a few possibilities that come to mind. Little Earthquakes, by Tori Amos is a nominee. I also gotta give props to Tupelo Honey, by Van Morrison. And then there's The Joshua Tree, by U2. Each of those is absolutely brilliant. I'm just far too indecisive to pick two of those.
Favorite movie: Hows 'bout my three favorite movies (in no particular order)...

- Raising Arizona
- Delicatessen
- Rushmore
Chocolate: You know, there are people in this world who sometimes go an ENTIRE DAY without any chocolate. Isn't that the saddest thing you've ever heard?
Garlic: If I became stranded in a remote, desolate location by myself, the "bright side" would be that I'd be able to eat lots of garlic without fear of offending anyone's olfactory sensibilities.
Blue Cheese: I'm firmly convinced that someday soon, someone will discover that whatever it is that makes blue cheese stinky is also responsible for long life and happiness.
My best triathlon advice is: Don't get freaked out by all the shiney bikes with fancy wheels.
My best non-triathlon advice is: 1) Never write down a phone number without also writing down to whom it belongs.
2) Before hitting "Send" on that e-mail, double check the address line.
3) Whatever it is that you decide is worth your time, pursue that thing with utter passion and vigor --- not because of what you think might come of it some day in the future, but because of the joy it brings you today.
4) When buying jumper cables, always get the longest set available.
